Building Schools for the future
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest ever school buildings investment programme. Launched by the government in February 2004, the aim is to rebuild or renew every secondary school in England over a 10-15 year period.
BSF will transform the country's schools, improving the educational achievement of generations of pupils to come and providing facilities to meet the needs of communities in the 21st century.
Rowley Regis Learning Campus
The Westminster School, St Michael's Church of England School Business and Enterprise College and Whiteheath Education Centre will be collocating on to one campus, the Rowley Regis Learning Campus, previously occupied by Rowley Regis College.
The campus will be an entirely new-build project, designed to be a visible landmark in the borough. The teaching and learning spaces will be equipped for the flexible use of ICT, with suitable areas for all departments and displays. The buildings will have wide, well-lit circulation spaces and large social areas. All users of the building will benefit from better light, space, colour schemes, furnishings and heating and climate control.
Many of the facilities will be shared across the three schools, as well as the community.
These include a sports and fitness facilities, performing arts area and specialist business, enterprise and design & technology accommodation.
Outside there will be separate social and recreational areas with seating and covered areas. Most teaching areas will have attached outdoor spacing to encourage sustainable and creative learning opportunities.
